Let's get the awkward introductory blog post out of the way

Hi, my name is David and I like to make art. I made this website as a platform to share said art with random strangers on the internet. And apparently, part of having an engaging website involves regularly posting content in the form of a Web Log (or “Blog,” if you will). So, this is that.

“They” say the hardest part of writing a book is the first sentence. I suppose this isn't exactly the great American novel, but I definitely spent way more time than I’d like to admit staring at the blank screen, closing the window, reopening it, and closing it again, because even though I’ve been excited by the idea of doing some form of writing, I had no idea how to go about breaking the ice. I eventually decided that writing literally anything is better than nothing, even if it's roughly half as interesting as the latest update to the Terms and Conditions for Microsoft Office. So here is my clumsy “Hello world” first post which will certainly pave the way for future groundbreaking, Pulitzer-winning blog entries.

Since this is my art website, I plan to use this blog to write primarily about things pertaining to my art, and not unrelated subjects like politics, gardening, macroeconomics, the Los Angeles Lakers, or the writings of Kirkegaard. If those things are what you came here for, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you’re down to read some self-indulgent, navel-gazing introspections about my creative process and the visual language that's taken shape over time, with just a soupçon of self-deprecation, you’re in the right place!

So that's the introduction. Going forward, I’ll be writing more about the art itself — where it comes from, how it’s changed, what I think I’m doing (and what I might actually be doing). I’ll be sharing new pieces as they are completed, older work from a lifetime or two ago, and various things in between. If that sounds interesting, stay tuned.
